Jim Hausman Joins Clock Tower Society

Jim HausmanFor longtime business owner Jim Hausman, it just seemed like the natural thing to do to commit to a gift for Missouri Western. Jim became a member of the Clock Tower Society when he notified the MWSU Foundation that it is a beneficiary of his estate.

Jim was a student at Missouri Western for three and a half years before he joined the family business, Hausman Metal Works and Roofing in St. Joseph, and remembers his time as a student as some of the best years of his life. He still stays in touch with many of his Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity brothers, and several returned home for this year's homecoming to tailgate and attend the football game.

Jim notes that his company, founded by his father, uncle and grandfather in 1960, has worked on about every building on campus, including construction of the Glenn E. Marion Memorial Clock Tower and the addition of gold accents to it in 2015. Recently, they worked on the renovation of Spratt Memorial Stadium in 2016 and the Bill Snyder Pavilion in 2018.

Jim is a member of the Gold Coat Club and attends several campus events each year. In 2009, an endowed Hausman Family Scholarship was established for students in education, business, construction engineering or nursing.

"St. Joseph and Missouri Western have been good to us, and this is a good way to support the community that supported me," Jim says. "If this is something you want to do, make sure you get it done."
